Biography: A mighty mountain of woman in both personality and stature, Anastasiya Mikhailov is a living embodiement of the stereotypical 'russian bear'. Ironic, then, that she has never so much as set foot in former Russian territory, having been born and raised on the far-off British isles. In truth, the only connections to her ancestry lie in a pair of steel-blue eyes and a traditional name. Lucky enough to originate from one of the more prosperous regions of Earth, Ana was well-educated and lived in fairly austere conditions throughout her childhood. She was, amusingly, somewhat short and scrawny until hitting a growth spurt at 14 that transformed the woman into her current colossal self almost overnight.

Driven by her own desires and her parents' militaristic attitude, Anastasiya enlisted in the Directory's military forces at 19 as barely more than a fresh graduate. She proved surprisingly cunning - and ambitious - to those who presumed her to be a simple brute from her size, and moved up rapidly through the organization. But as she climbed the ranks, Anastasiya held a secret desire close to her heart, one she had carried with her since first seeing a Personal Trooper as a youngster: to become a pilot. To be a defender of the people, astride a great mechanized weapon of war striking down those who would threaten the peace. But alas, after several years of service and multiple inquiries, Ana was taken aside by her superior officer and told in no uncertain terms (albeit as gently as possible) that it was, and would likely to continue to be, an impossibility. Her seven-foot-plus frame with bulk to match was simply too large to fit in a standard cockpit, and there was little interest in expending the resources to accomodate her when they had a multitude of other choices for pilots. It was a terrible blow, but she bounced back in fairly short order, still determined to serve to her best ability.

Not long after, whether through luck or - she suspected, though he would not have admitted to it - string-pulling by that sympathetic superior, Anastasiya was contacted by a liason from Terra Sentinel, the top-secret black arm of the Directory military. They expressed interest in her 'talents', and furthermore dangled the most tantalizing carrot before her: the possibility that status as a pilot might be within her grasp after all. Naturally, she accepted. Put to work as an enforcer of sorts, the woman found herself a bit leery of some of the more questionable strategies the organization employed. She consoled herself with the idea that it was for the good of the Directory's citizens...so it couldn't be that bad, right?

And then, it happened. The word came down that she'd been waiting so long for. There was a machine that she was compatible with - and more than that, out of all the pilot candidates in Terra Sentinel they had come to the conclusion that *only* she was up to the task, though any real details were withheld pending her acceptance. Anastasiya was ecstatic, and naturally accepted with gusto. Imagine her surprise when she was led into a hangar deep below the surface, past rows of experimental mecha and Terra Sentinel's signature jet-black PTs, and led to a small bay that contained what appeared to be a miniature Gespenst. Her enthusiasm turned to confusion at the sight of the three-meter machine, and then anger at the idea of this all being some cruel joke at her expense.

Faced with a bristling woman that could probably fold him in half one-handed, the tech was quite quick to explain that this was no humorless gag. What stood before her was an exercise in ultra-miniaturizaton, one of the most technologically advanced machines the Directory had ever constructed. A Gespenst, but scaled to a fraction of the size of a normal Personal Trooper, powered by an exotic EOT energy source and intended to be worn in the fashion of an armored suit by the pilot. But none of their test pilots had been able to withstand the stresses placed on the wearer, nor did they have to strength to truly utilize the unit to its fullest.

Anastasiya was their solution, and it soon became apparent that she excelled. Wearing the battle armor quickly became like a second skin to the woman, and before long she was capable of besting TS' full-sized Gespensts in mock battle. Skilled at picking out the weak points of a design by necessity, she inadverdently helped strengthen Terra Sentinel's forces by alerting their technicians to overlooked vulnerabilities.

Omsk. Thrown under the bus by the Directory for daring to investigate the corruption within its ranks and formally disbanded, Anastasiya and her Gespenst were among the resources quietly whisked away for safekeeping. Operating in secrecy for two long years, it was not until the events of OE 102 and the withdrawal of Directory forces from many of its holdings that she was truly reactivated for active and open duty.

It was time to clear their names and teach these bastards a lesson on the way.

Mobile Weapon: PTX-001 Battle Armor Gespenst
Affiliation: Terra Sentinel

Combat Style: Brazen
Combat Theme:
Strengths: Having adapted to her unique machine, Anastasiya has learned to take advantage of the Gespenst's speed and agility to avoid taking damage in combat. Being at a distinct firepower disadvantage against almost any mechanized opponent thanks to the difference in scale, she has become an expert in on-the-fly analysis of the physical weaknesses of a target mecha as well as any methodological deficiencies of its pilot. Accordingly, her shooting at point-blank ranges is deadly accurate in order to precisely target joints and other vulnerabilities. Urban combat is her specialty, having learned to exploit the advantages given to her by tight terrain to the fullest.

Weaknesses: As mentioned, the Gespenst is lacking in offensive punch compared to larger mecha, especially at range. Due to the nature of the machine, nearly any significant hit is likely to result in catastrophic damage and greatly impair Anastasiya's ability to function in a combat zone. She has difficulty dealing with high-speed machines that can outpace the Gespenst, and her firing accuracy is very much middling beyond extreme close range. Generally accustomed to being the one doing the ambushing, she can easily be shaken by an opponent that can catch her unawares as well.

History: A new twist on an the oldest true mecha in existence, the Battle Armor Gespenst is a scaled-down - very scaled-down - version of that venerable unit. Utilizing the most advanced technology available, it was only through extensive use of EOT that many of the important systems were able to be miniaturized to a degree which made such a machine practial. As the name suggests, rather than be traditionally piloted it is designed to be worn by an operator in the manner of a powered armor suit. All of the weapons utilized by this Gespenst are clones of the original equipment, simply far smaller than their brethren.

The most remarkable - and vital - component of the unit is the semi-blackbox equipment known only as System XN. Developed from Dimensional Energy Crystal research and experimental EOT, System XN provides a near-limitless font of power for the Gespenst's voracious systems to draw from; the limit of System XN's performance is not System XN itself, but rather the inefficiency of current technology's ability to harness it. In addition to providing raw energy, System XN provides potent all-direction 'propulsion' to the unit regardless of environment by warping dimensional space and effectively shunting it along, though such movements are so rapid and infinitesimal in distance as to appear to be continuous flight.

While scientists have failed to so far truly plumb the depths of System XN, it's nonetheless theorized that it may possess the ability to adaptively change and evolve itself and the machine into which it is integrated. So far, no such behavior has been reported.
