UN Tower:17:04pm
January 19th

'UN Tower under threat. DEI assistance required against Terra Sentinel remnants. All other forces delayed or sabotaged.'

Just the thing to ruin Dylan's morning. He'd been all set up for a nice productive day working on the sphere, and then those terrorists just had to start something big. He'd have to alter his schedule, spend time shouting orders, and generally be a productive commander instead of getting to spend the day with his particular flavour of mad science. But such things had to be done - especially after the Directory's reaction to his training exercise. They needed to see the value of his work, and what it could do in a combat situation.

The Resolution drifted almost lazily over the mountains, dangerously close to ground level as it circled the site. No sane commander would keep a battleship of such power where ground forces could threaten it, but the completely open state of the open hangar betrayed Dylan's true intentions.

"We've never seen what happens when you airdrop a DAMON - and they'll never see it coming! Don't deploy our forces until the enemy shows themselves - we want to make them cocky. Or paranoid. Honestly, either works."

"Do not let Dylan turn you into a drooling junkie. I like you, you're nice. And he's an asshole."

"Well, just make sure you aren't being forced in your role, okay?"

Ashley sighed into her mech's console, memories from the past few days echoing through her head. Was this really her place? Did she belong? She'd hang around as long as she had to, but there were other options. Part of her wanted to switch sides now, rip the Resolution to pieces and just flee. But Dylan still had that killswitch, and they were doing the right thing at this point in time. Stopping a terrorist attack would at least make her feel good about herself for a while.

Her grip tightened around a small red pill, and she quickly dropped it into the container with the rest. Dylan had confiscated the rest of her 'venom', as he'd called it, but she'd kept one pill hidden just in case she needed it. That anger... was new. Raw. Unfiltered. She'd never lashed out at Dylan before, even when she really wanted to. But it gave her the strength to do so.. and she might just need it.

Waiting was the worst part. The Chaos Caper ran an affectionate finger under the DAMON's chin, as if petting a favored dog or cat. The Damon did not react of course, being a mindless beast controlled with the 'hat', but Minerva did not really care. Cuddles was her puppet and no one else's. She had no issue pitting the monster against these poor unsuspecting terrorists. They should have thought about it before they decided to be terrorists. But the waiting, oh the damned waiting. Why were the enemy NEVER on time. It was down right rude to keep a woman waiting.

It was her first time in the field, aside from the DAMON specimens, and she was both nervous and excited. Butterflies wafted about in her stomach, the damned waiting dragging out, making her stomach feel weak and wobbly. She honestly did not know if it was a good thing or a bad thing that she hadn't eaten yet today. She was resolved to capture these imbeciles. At least one... To personally punish for making her and Ashley wait.

Vertalis rubbed his eyes, watching the vitals monitors on the two girls. His fingers drummed his anxiety out on the desk in front of him. He glanced over to Dylan, anxiety written all over his face. "Are you sure we can't just send Cuddles? It should be more than enough firepower for a few vandals and thugs. The girls don't need involved." In truth, he didn't want Minerva involved. Ashley... was a great asset but an adult and quite capable of making her own decisions. He didn't exactly care about her, but Minerva did. That meant he needed to care about Ashley too.

Resolution Hangar

Clang!

"Kya!"

Lodged within the Great Axion Class's vast hangar, a truly goliath form loomed over all present. It was cast in drab greys, blacks, and surprisingly a splash of mauve across its beastly features, the Lemures Test Type undergoing its last, hurried safety checks. A pair of dim emerald eyes surveyed its fellows in silence, not quite yet awake, but not wholly defunct either.

And from within its confines, a tiny voice gave a high pitched yelp of pain. From a service vent located on the Lemures' chest, a slender form wriggled forth, enveloped in a cloud of black smoke, gasping for air before flopping onto the maintenance catwalk, chest heaving as she reached up, removing a pair of goggles. Eliza Kruger stared at the bright lights above, and thought about the past few weeks.

They had been suddenly diverted to defend against Terra Sentinel, of all things. Turned out the Special Forces group wasn't quite as dead as advertised. Even so... Scientists versus hardened elites? Even with the Lemures, she wanted to turn tail - but... No. Now was the time to make her ambitions a reality - all she had to do was stay out of that crank Dr. Couch and his pet psychopath's way. Blinking in the light, she reached up to tenderly rub a small lump on her head, where a part had clattered loose as she worked on the machines power collectors, giving a meek whimper:

"Uuu... That really hurt..."

Bridge of the Hecatoncheires

"What? An enemy vessel?"

Maximilian Pendleton's portly frame shifted with mock surprise in the seat of the Hringhorni Class vessel. Its sleek form cut through the night, scything through clouds as it rocketed towards its destination, and only now as they began their final approach had the Resolution been sighted. To the man's left, the tall, blue-skinned form of the XO, Onishi Kina, nodded.

"That's correct, Captain." She said;
"It appears to be an experimental vessel from the Dimensional Energy Institute."

Pendleton gave a derisive snort, clapping his hands together eagerly.

"So a bunch of pencil-necked geeks are going to stop us?"
"I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them, sir... The Institute's weapons are highly advanced."

The Oni leafed through her notes further. Despite the general tension of the bridge as the crew approached their second assignment, her demeanor was as cool and calm as ever, reaching up to push back her glasses as she brightly reached one more point.

"Hyperion is en route to our destination... We can expect their arrival shortly."
"Of course... Of course." Muttered the Captain in response, seemingly sinking into his chair a little further as he did so.

Hyperion! Just the thought of being in proximity to Terra Sentinel's enigmatic leader made his skin crawl. As the ship began to descend, bays opening to dispense the small strike team they had managed to assemble on short notice, his thoughts turned to another, more salient matter... Why would Hyperion choose to appear here, of all places?

"Mobile Weapons, launch! Take down that tower!"

"Eliza?"

The familiar voice echoed up through the cavernous hangar, accompanied by a low whirr. A glance down would reveal Anastasiya trundling slowly up toward her astride the Lemures' cockpit lift, the woman seemingly having already been on her way up based on her proximity.

Already clad in the body-hugging compression top and shorts necessary to fit comfortably into her Gespenst, Ana clambered carefully onto Eliza's catwalk; the structure gave a reassuringly small groan of protest at the additional mass. She crouched over the scientist's prone form, offering her an assisting hand to rise alongside a smile.

"Don't die on me yet, alright?" Her tone was chipper as always, but the idea of coming to blows with her comrades - her real comrades, that was - was leaving a sour lump in the woman's gut. Hyperion had communicated further orders in the interim - maintain a presence at DEI until further notice, proceed as necessary to maintain identity - and so she knew this was what they wanted. And the oncoming forces would be likewise unaware of her true allegiance. She would just have to aim to disable rather than destroy, though far easier said than done...

On board of the Heca one unit towered over even the Amaterasu brought in by the Lunarians, the so called Thrudgelmir which was named by Alkahest in association with their Bergelmir units, loomed over its surroundings. Its pilot, the Terra Sentinel newcomer by the name of Roman was surprised they even managed to fit the thing in here, then again secret special forces always did have an aptitude for smuggling impossible things.

His feet were kicked up and over the former Grungust's controls, at least those had been kept intact, for him it was a simple case of wait for the green light and wreck some scientist's life. Finally someone else had to do the early stages, transport, planning, removing their traces. As much as he liked doing what he did the tedious tasks were just that, tedious.

And now the big man... Entity, was coming too. Now that was someone he looked forwards to meeting, get a glimpse under the mask if possible. But regardless he would try and get a read on the leader of TS.

Roman kicked his feet up and put them back where they belonged, ready in position to take off. Something he didn't have to wait long for as Pendleton made the call, simple objective tough task. Take down the tower, but get through a small array of mad scientists ready to unleash their pet projects and greenlit disasters. Or, perhaps he could use the sword for its namesake.

"Roman, launching." he announced as the unit moved towards the bay exit.

A wry smile formed on Roman's face as the Thrudgelmir's drills began spinning, once the massive machine had exited the Heca it took a second, hovering in front of it for a moment as it raised its left shoulder, in an almost flex like motion the shoulder guard detached from the shoulder, hovering about as dark energy crackled from it.

The Thrudgelmir extended its hand as the energy connected between the two, pulling the shoulder guard towards the unit's right hand where it spun in the air for a moment before coming to a sudden stop as a pole extended downwards, the item now seeming more like the blade-less hilt of a sword than the shoulder guard it was before. Though that did not remain for long as the unit grasped the new hit, the blade almost seeming to grow out of the hilt.
A serene sapphire and silver blade now rested in the Thrudgelmir's hand, a so called Zankantou. Designated anti-ship weaponry.

And right there, there was a ship.
The drills on the white mech's back whirred to life once more, propelling the unit forwards with a small stream of fire at its back, sword raised and ready to strike as soon as it had closed the distance between it and its target.

"...Ana."

Eliza blinked as a familiar voice made itself heard, and felt the impact as the woman stepped up onto her platform. Her small hand reached out, gratefully accepting the offer to be pulled to her feet, As she did so, she reached up to wipe away some of the dirt covering her face with her sleeves, leaving smudged marks across her cheeks. As she took in the woman's compression suit, she gave a thin-lipped look of worry.

"The enemy is Terra Sentinel." She said, lowering her voice as she glanced about, assuring herself that the two of them were speaking privately.

Though Eliza had been more open than she had previously during their time together on the ship... She had spent the vast majority of her time hard at work, tinkering with the Lemures, and pursuing her own research projects. There was a considerable amount of pride in her diminutive form, one that resented being pitied, being looked down upon - and that aspect was currently front and center of her persona, in spite of everything. She didn't want Ana to go into battle against her own comrades, nor did she particularly want to take any of them on herself... But, the lives of her friends at the Institute were on the line, as well as the legacy of Dr. Griswold.

Thus... Eliza Kruger would fight.

"You don't need..." She muttered, reaching up to remove the goggles to clean their own surfaces, ineffectually.

"...To protect me."

"I know."

Anastasiya's expression softened, trademark cheesy grin shifting into something gentler as she looked the soot-stained scientist over. The smile persisted but as a softer thing, formed of compassion rather than joviality; the woman's brow was wrinkled ever so slightly with concern. For a (mildly terrifying) moment it seemed as though she might wrap Eliza in a bone-crushing hug, but instead settled for laying a hand on the smaller woman's shoulder and giving it a minute, reassuring squeeze. "...just take care of yourself out there." For both our sakes.

And then she was gone, back on the long descent to the hangar floor with nary more than the mechanical whine of the lift's mechanism...

Ana let out a long, low sigh as she stepped into the confines of the battle armor Gespenst, but unfortunately none of her anxieties seemed to escape along with the exhalation. Hyperion had their motives, certainly, but to attack Directory holdings within spitting distance of the Institute - when they knew DEI assistance would be called upon - seemed directly counterproductive to her mission here. She wore a grimace even as the suit wrapped her in its embrace, heavy panels shifting and locking to seal Ana in a layer of armored protection from the outside world. A mess, that's what this was. A big goddamn mess.

She triggered her comms to the frequency of the Resolution's launch control. "Battle Armor Gespenst, ready to assist on your signal."

Sigrid tugged her braid nervously. The moment before the fighting started was the worst, she decided. There wasn't much time for nerves or second guesses during a battle, but before...that was a different matter altogether. The news that Hyperion would appear wasn't helping at all.

Much as she disliked combat it was almost a relief when the order to engage was given. "Sigrid Korppi, launching." Jaohm's engines came to life with vibrant blue energy as it launched itself out of the Hecatoncheires after Thrudgelmir.

She flew towards the Resolution but kept her distance, flying in a wide arc around it. The nerves that had bothered her before vanished as she focused on the task at hand.

As Thrudgelmir dashed towards the DEI battleship, Jaohm picked up its linear railgun with the hand that wasn't occupied with the scythe and let loose several shots at one of the engines.

War.

War itself was a gruesome, crude thing. It does nothing but leave a trail of destruction in its wake. It is a last resort in order to take complete and absolute control over a foreign entity. Surely the thoughts that go into deciding on war aren’t taken lightly, with one knowing the possible repercussions they would face once it was all over. Families would be torn apart, cities razed, earth salted and left barren.

There were no true winners in war.

“But to me?” None of that matters.

I am but a warrior.

Living in the moment is the only path to victory. In order for a warrior to survive, they must relish in the honor of combat. The moment you hesitate, the moment you think about “what’s next,” is the moment you will die. I care not for what decisions generals make, worrying about the bigger picture is their job. My job is simply to win, and live.

____

Okuni was resting in the cockpit of Amaterasu, currently in the middle of her pre-fight meditation. It was an important part of her fighting, as her true potential could only be achieved with a clear mind. She would be the last to sortie, allowing her the most time to prepare. With every breath, her heart became stiller and stiller. As if the cockpit was an anechoic chamber, Okuni was surrounded with complete silence. With each inhale, the cool air entered her lungs and with each exhale she became more calm. She could hear the blood flowing through her veins, all pushed by the slow yet repetitious pumps of her heart.

The hair on the back of her neck stuck up, moments before she was informed by the bridge that she was cleared to sortie.

“Okuni Aohara, Heading out.” with a calm yet cool voice, the Amaterasu was lined up on the catapult and launched out of the ship, the green Orgone thrusters lighting up, providing propulsion to the black mobile weapon.

While the rest of the pilots charged forward to attack, Okuni stayed back with the Hecatoncheires, watching over the battlefield, waiting for the right moment. There was more to this fight than the first look, there always was. As seen with the events on the Moon, the DEI seemed unchecked in their pursuit of knowledge. They were a threat who’s potential was unknown.

"Everyone involved in this operation is a volunteer. Or contractually obligated, in Amy's case. And while I'm sure Cuddles is more than capable of killing a few rogue mobile weapons, what if they have something bigger? Like, say, a super robot?"

"Warning. Enemy Super Robot approaching melee range."

"Case in point. If you want to pull your daughter back, go ahead. You've got until the Dimensional Reaction gun comes online. Speaking of which..."

Dylan was on the literal edge of his seat as he watched the Thrudgelmir approach, apparently smiling despite the evident threat as he pressed a string of buttons on the control console. Because while to everyone else this was a battle, to Dylan it was something far more important...

"DEC heavy particle reaction gun online and charging. Ten percent.. Twenty Percent.. Thirty..."

A test run. The centre of the Resolution began to glow with teal light, as the ship turned to face the Thrudgelmir head-on. It was a monster of a super robot, but very little could stand up to concentrated energy. Especially this much energy. The Scorpion was a fluke, a consequence of accidentally fuelling energy into a monster that lived off of it. And one that would not be repeated.

"Transfer fire control to the bridge. I'm the designer, I get to fire my gun in live combat for the first time!"

Energy swelled within the barrel as it reached critical mass, the smile on Dylan's face going from his usual smirk to a crazed grin as the moment approached.

"Ninety percent.. Ninety five... Canno-"

"FIRE!"

Dylan pulled the trigger the second the cannon came operational, his eyes filled with childish delight as as it fired. A beam of teal energy split the sky in half, momentarily replacing the afternoon dim with the midday sun. Anything foolish enough to stand in its way would be ripped to pieces, and the Thrudgelmir's centre of mass was its target of choice.

Dylan slumped back into his seat as the viewscreen went white, wiping a bead of sweat off his brow and activating the intercom. A swift series of button presses opened the various hangars on the Resolution, allowing those MWs stored within to deploy at their leisure. Jaohm's railgun shots slammed home at around this moment, causing one of the portside engines to begin spewing smoke instead of thrust.

"Test concluded. All units, drop! Defend the Resolution with your lives - oh, and that UN Tower the directory are all concerned about. Regardless, I'm sure you'll do fine!"

'You'll do fine', he says. Like he has any idea how a real battle works.

Ashley could be heard muttering to herself as the Riot S deployed, humming with green light as the Scorpion fell through the air. It seemed to jerk to a stop halfway, falling limp like a puppet with cut strings before twisting up to stare at the approaching Terra Sentinel machines. They were terrorists. They were the enemy.

They could be Destroyed.

"Ashley Chase, deploying as ordered. Ready to engage on your mark."

Inside the cockpit of the Thrudgelmir Roman's grin grew, the science buffs were charging something by the looks of that 'barrel' on their ship. Well, calling it a ship seemed to be an understatement seeing as the sheer size of the thing was more compatible with two skyscrapers stacked on top of one another with wings.
Perhaps he would need a bigger sword, but not quite yet.

As the light in the chest of the massive ship coalesced Roman moved his hand down to the speed controls, pushing them forwards as hard as he could while steering the MW itself upwards. A veritable tornado of fire sprouted from the back of the unit as it began going up, the teal beam and red flames connecting with one another as the unit pulled up. Though the evasive maneuvers did not work as well as the pilot had hoped, the super robot not fully capable of exiting the path of the beam with its own speed as the teal light connected with the front side of the downwards facing Thrudgelmir though a full frontal hit was prevented Roman could see the paint scrape off at first, then the metal itself began to buckle and relent as the side of the great axion's beam continued to touch it.

Even as G forces pushed him into the back of his seat Roman held on tight, pushing the Thrudgelmir further and further up, likely giving Dylan a good display of the Super Robot coming for him but as the beam began to conclude the contact between it and the super robot stopped, the unit having pulled up from the beam and ceasing its connection. Scorch marks adorned its already black chest as well as large chunks of the metal the unit consists of being missing in the chest region, yet it showed no signs of slowing down, speeding up as the torrent of flame pursued it.

As it reached the peak of its climb it hung in between the two 'horns' of the Great Axion's bow the Thrudgelmir staring down what was likely the bridge of the great Axion allowing all within to see the torrent of flames calm, the white mech now grasping its blade in two hands as its mouth opened up and the machine seemed to let out a low roar.
This marked the begin of its descent the flames completely dying down as gravity now played its role, Roman aimed to not only land on, but also aim a two handed strike at the front of the Great Axion's bow with the intent of applying enough force in a small area to keel the massive ship forwards and make it eat the dirt it hovered oh so close to.

"Ashley," Vertalis corrected Dylan, for the.... He lost count of that actually. "Minerva's never been in combat before. This may be too much for her. I'm sure Ashley can handle it." Vertalis sauntered over to the communications officer, leaning over him. "Minerva, Do not deploy. I'm calling you back in. This is not suitable for a test run of the Caper."

Minerva rolled her eyes in the cockpit, mocking her father's voice with her hand. She held her ground as the count up of the canon's power supply echoed behind her father's voice. "Minerva." The man said with a warning tone. He couldn't stop her if he tried though. She'd bust out of this hangar if she had to.

Minerva snickered as Dylan didn't even wait for the bridge crew to announce the cannon was ready. The cerulean light burned outside, filling the bay as the pilots waited for the green light. Cuddles shifted, anxious to get moving, blood lust welling up in the beast.

"Minerva!" Vertalis used his father voice. "Get out of the hangar NOW! Enemy unit approaching the bridge!"

She grinned, but mellowed out her voice. "Okay father." She would get out of the hangar alright. She waited for Ashley to deploy, then the Caper rushed forward, ignoring the launch mechanisms. She wouldn't need it and neither would cuddles. The Caper launched itself from the opening, sailing upward into the sky toward the bridge. Cuddles followed shortly on her heels, launching itself with strong legs and the DE that powered the monster.

Claws dug in to the hull of the ship as it landed, then bounded up again to scale the ship. It left a trail of scored metal in it's wake.

"Minerva! What are you doing?! I said-" She flicked the comm link to the bridge off with an innocent "Oops~". Ashley and the other pilots very likely heard the malicious grin in her voice. The Caper's wings spread wide, runes glowing emerald as it leveled off with the massive mech that threatened the ship. The Chaos Caper raised it's hand, firing several blasts at the sword wielding menace.

Behind it, as Minerva acted as a distraction, Cuddles landed on the hull. It snorted, claws digging into the metal to stabilize itself for the moment, charging with a subtle electric crackle running through it's horns. It prepared to strike, waiting for the orders from it's handler.

"Ugh..." Even shielded behind the aggressive auto-darkening filter on the Gespenst's helmet, Ana was forced to shade her eyes with a raised arm as the Resolution's main gun discharged. She could feel the dull rumble of the weapon in the deck below her feet. It was a bizarre sensation, an intense hum caused not by physical machinery but purely by the transmission of a truly titanic amount of raw energy. It was like holding on to a live wire flowing with a million volts; the insulation stopped it from shocking you, but you could still feel the electrons in motion from their accumulated mass.

...All units, drop!...
Not quite a formal signal to launch, but close enough given the situation. "Anastasiya Mikhailov, launching!" Neutron Laser in hand, the Gespenst lurched forward, coming off the line and exiting the yawning hangar doors as if it had been kicked by a colossal boot. A rapid survey of the situation indicated several things to Ana. One: the rapidly-approaching enemy Super had seemingly avoided being vaporized by Dylan's new toy and was now disconcertingly close. Two: the docile DAMON she had encountered beneath the Institute was suddenly not so calm, though for now the slavering beast seemed to at least be pointed in the correct direction to savage the opponent rather than their own forces. And three: her targeting system was identifying several other Terra Sentinel machines scattered throughout the middle distance between the two airborne vessels.

And speaking of the Hecatoncheires...the ship had only a single escort that she could spot.

Trusting that the DAMON and its handler had the Thrudgelmir situation under control, the Gespenst angled sharply down and away from the Resolution, putting on a burst of speed as it descended. Ana cut her external comms output, she'd be needed unfettered access to the unit's voice commands for this. "System XN, maximum output! Assault protocol alpha..." Again, she felt rather than heard that rising hum, but this time the ramping power surrounded her on all sides, skin-tight. Flickers of deep violet flame seemed to lick at the Gespenst's form, flowing from the hidden crevices between the unit's armor plates; after only a moment they grew into an inferno that encircled its profile completely. Blowing out a deep breath, Anastasiya shifted her view to center on the distant Amaterasu and braced herself.

"...ENGAGE!" The Gespenst veritably vanished from its current position, becoming little more than a blazing streak of dark fire slicing through the sky as System XN launched it forward at sudden and frightening velocity. Within the searing comet the battle armor rocketed toward Okuni, right leg outstretched and foot cocked to deliver a devastating kick should the knight-machine neglect to evade.

Eliza gave only a meek smile to Ana's confident gesture, watching the woman leave wordlessly. She wasn't worried about the operative's ability to survive - no, to Eliza, Ana seemed almost like an invincible monument, as tall and powerful as the Lemures itself. A thought guiltily wormed itself into her mind:

She hadn't told her about the experiment.

Slowly, Eliza drew the item in question from her belt, holding it in the palm of her hand.

The Chimera Card.

It was approximately four inches in length, its design wrought of gold, weaven with strands of DEC Fiber, formed around a small core of the very same substance in the upper left of its design, forming the eye of a snarling lion. She gave it a slight squeeze, and a pulse of green energy flickered across its surface, causing her to give an involuntary shudder as it traveled up her arm. Once the Lemures was activated... There would be no stopping it. The knot of anxiety in her stomach was almost unbearable...

But... She had to. In order to prove that her research, that Doctor Griswold's theories were correct... to have the power to protect Ana, to protect herself... She would fight. As Dylan's barked order came in over the loudspeaker, she watched the others depart in turn before slinking into the cockpit of the Lemures, the control seat still... feeling like it belonged to someone taller. She took a moment to steady her nerves, her breathing... before responding.

"Eliza Kruger, Lemures: Launching. All units, stay clear."

So it was that the rear doors of the Great Axion class groaned open, and easily the largest of its crew was dispensed, feet-first, into the air. It traveled a short while, thrusters flickering across its body, before righting itself, smashing into the ground with force so terrible that it cracked the earth beneath its feet. Slowly, it raised itself to its full height - fully assembled, the Lemures Test Type was a nightmare to behold. In place of standard arms, two massive drills extended from its elbows, each large enough to pulverize ships on their own, and its construction was a curious, almost totem-like assemblage of beasts - the snake, the goat, the lion- a Chimera. Twin green eyes came to life as it surveyed the battlefield, taking in each foe in turn...

As the blast of the Great Axion's main gun erupted forth, the Heca almost banked reflexively - but the ship instead held fast, as the blast cut wide beneath it. This didn't stop Pendleton from sinking into his seat in toe-curled terror.

"XO, Did you see that?!"
"Quite the impressive main battery for a prototype. We'll maintain the appropriate distance."

For now, the more agile blue vessel held back - for if it was destroyed, of course, escape would prove to be difficult for the soldiers of Terra Sentinel. It was better suited as a high speed carrier, and the prospect of a head-to-head battle with the more heavily armed Resolution was the furthest thing from the crew's minds - better to get in and out, rather than risk it all trying to destroy a vessel that was already destined for the scrapyard.

And... there was one more thing.

"Okuni Aohara."

Framed against the late afternoon sun, a figure made its presence known, a flurry of motion, a blur of smoke - and it... No, perhaps it would be better to say that he was there.

Crouched on the neck of the Heca, a dark figure rose to regard the Amaterasu. Its figure was wrapped in a form-concealing red cloak, out of which a horned, helmeted head jutted as single red eye glittered, like a ruby at the bottom of a deep, dark well. On its back, the handle of a long, sheathed sword was visible, and through the cloak the beginnings of a body that was reminiscent of the able-bodied Super Robots of old could be just barely made out.

19002039_p0.jpg

The Jinrai gave a bow of its head to the Lunarian swordswoman, a sign of respect, as the voice that spoke with such authority could only belong to one individual in the entire world.

"Your assistance has been invaluable." Said Hyperion.

"I'm deeply grateful."

Sigrid mutely watched the destructive beam being fired by the DEI ship, as well as the Mobile Weapons scrambling to meet her comrades. Conveniently no one seemed to be going for her yet, like she was some mosquito not worth their time.

Seeing as no one was going for her nothing was stopping Sigrid from continuing to target the Resolution's engines. Still hovering to the side she turned her railgun on the engine next to the first one she had destroyed, though she kept a wary eye for anything heading her way. That main gun was a threat, and this magical mosquito would at least limit the mobility of the battleship.

If she was a mosquito to them she would be the most annoying one they'd ever meet.

Okuni gazed upon the battlefield, as forces began to clash. Everything was proceeding normally, except for one small thing. Like a pea-sized comet blazing across the battlefield, a very small… Gespenst came crashing towards Okuni from across the battlefield. There was, however, nothing normal about this pea, as a deep violet flame surrounded the mech, as it moved at incredibly high speeds. Whoever this was, it seemed they weren’t pulling any punches. She centered her focus wholly on the incoming Gespenst as it was it clear it chose Okuni as its charge. All other prescenes on the battlefield were ignored.

“...Then I won’t hold back either…” Okuni murmured quietly as she took a deep breath.

Green particles began to rapidly condense around Amaterasu, creating a visible ‘cloud’ of green surrounding the black knight frame. As the gespenst made impact with the green cloud, a flash of green and a vicious explosion erupted as it seemingly went ‘through’ the cloud. As wind blew past the gespenst, Ana could hear naught what seemed to be a whisper.

“Inmetsu…”

There was no Amaterasu where it was previously, but rather it appeared not but 20 meters in the direction of where the gespenst had come from.

“...Second Step… Fuurinkazan, Fourth Gate: Open.”

Orgone began condensing in the space around Okuni, before quickly spreading outward blowing the wind along with it. The orgone then began forming into several thin rod-like projectiles, before fully condensing into sharpened objects. No less than twenty of them moved to encircle the gespenst in a sphere before all moving in on their target. Should the gespenst fail to dodge, it would appear to be nothing more than a sea urchin.

"...Impressive. I suppose it's just my luck that it'd be able to dodge like that." Dylan shook his head, gripping his seat with both hands as the Thrudgelmir advanced on them. A single finger movement activated the intercom, giving him a moment to warn the crew before its sword hit home.

"All hands, you might want to brace for impact. Or don't - I'm not the one paying your death benefits, what do I care?"

"Intercom disabled. Impact in Fifteen seconds... Ten..."

"I think we might need your daughter's help after all, Doctor. Even if her machine proves lacking, the DAMON should be of some use. We're going to need everyone to do their part - including those who haven't shown themselves yet."

As the Thrudgelmir's sword hit home the Resolution slowly began to list forward. It's thrusters were doing their best to keep the ship floating, but they weren't built to defend against an impact of this strength. The bow impacted the ground with a horrific screech, ripping a trench in the earth as it tried to reverse away from the super robot currently forcing it earthwards. Ashley watched in horror from the cockpit of the Scorpion, already spurring the machine into action when Katri's voice stopped her.

"Ashley. Deal with that machine that keeps sniping at our engines. I've got this under control."

"The hell do you mean, 'Got this under control?' That sword's going to rip the ship in half!"

"Just because deploying the tank to an MW fight was decreed unsafe doesn't mean we can't still use the cannon. Now go!"

Ashley nodded, sickly green light coming from the thrusters as the Scorpion changed angle. Midway the right shoulderpad on the machine opened up, delivering a rifle into her hands. Ranged weapons had never been her forte... but this would hopefully draw the Elemental's attention. She started firing wildly, green beams lighting up the sky as they streaked past Jaohm. But after the fifth shot the rifle went dry, refusing to fire despite nothing visibly stopping it from continuing. As if it didn't want its power wasted on such a weapon.

Stupid... what's WRONG with this machine? It's diverted weapon power to thrusters on its own...

Screw it. If the Scorpion wants to smash things, I'm not gonna say no. It's what I was going to do anyway.

She cast the rifle aside, leaving it dangling limply at the Scorpion's side as it accelerated on Jaohm.

"DEC Cannon, firing! Make sure you're not blocking the hangar!"

Light began to shine within the left hangar of the Resolution, the three barrels of the MARV alive once more. Dimensional energy surged through the cannon as it fired, aiming for the Thrudgelmir's dominant arm. Assuming it hit the arm would become coated in a volatile crystal formation, the crystals themselves serving to impede movement for several seconds before detonating.

"Keep pushing forward! That shot will slow it, but one of you needs to stop that thing for good!"

As soon as the desired effect was achieved, the sword raised once more seemingly going for a repeat strike before being interrupted by the Chaos Caper. With a click of the tongue Roman instead switched the way he held Thrudgelmir's blade from an offensive one to using the blade as a shield, hilt in one hand and the other behind the blade it self as energy blasts impacted the weapon.

The Caper's blast did push the white mech back ever so slightly, its claw like feet peeling away the steel underneath them, though as Minerva would behold. Perhaps stopping their assailant would be harder than anticipated as even now purple, cell like, constructions formed and vanished within moments. Repairing the damage dealt by the Resolution by itself at a notable pace.

On the other side of the Thrudgelmir's cockpit the Russian thought. One seemingly DEC powered mech in front of him and a DAMON with a funky helmet behind him he assessed. Well within his ability to handle. He swapped the grip to a one handed swing with his right arm, the left held in front of the white mech's chest and just as he was about to swipe forwards he saw a bolt from below impact with the right arm of the Thrudgelmir.
Some form of crystals had formed on the limb in only a moment, the origin point was below him. It seemed the mad scientists had a few more plans up their sleeves so a swift change of his was in order.

For the time being finer movement in his right arm was not an option, but the arm itself moved around the shoulder joint just fine so what was supposed to be a horizontal swing went vertical as he swung upwards, far outside of the reach of the caper. The swing kept going and going and then as it came behind him, he let go. In front of him was the Chaos Caper, behind him was the DAMON, behind that... Was the base of the bridge. Hitting any of them was fine with him.
Right after release, the crystals detonated, tearing into the blue lower arm armor but re enabling full movement.

Simultaneously with this swing one of the two drills folded upwards, the one on his right side and the arm that was held in front of the damaged chest all this time grasped inwards, clicking the drill onto it by some mechanism,
The red excavation tool began spinning, shaking violently as the arm itself was pointed forwards and reeled back, a mighty jab forward releasing the left lower arm from its socket, fire propelling it forward as the drill spun. A veritable rocket punch aimed at none other than the Chaos Caper. This punch has a simple job, try to pierce the wings of the Caper and return to the Thrudgelmir.

As all this went on, inside the machine Roman couldn't help but smile.

Vertalis braced himself for the impact. "It appears that I have no choice in the matter." He pointed to the Caper as it ascended into view of the bridge. "I am fairly certain I just lost control of the situation with her." He gritted his teeth through the shockwaves that rocked the Resolution.

Minerva frowned at the Thrudgelmir skidding back, rending the steel of the ship. She was mildly disappointed that it didn't take more damage, though the specific definition of 'that' was up in the air at the moment. She pouted as the enemy machine repaired itself rapidly before her eyes. Now she was certain that the definition of 'that' was the Thrudgelmir and not the Resolution.

"I am fairly sure I just bit off a little more than we can squish." Minerva sighed softly to the rest of the DEI units deployed. "This one has a self repair system. It will take time to overwhelm it if it's just Cuddles and I." She didn't expect help - or want it honestly, but teamwork required communication and now everyone knew her situation.

The Chaos Caper kept it's distance, floating backwards to hover just over the edge of the bridge where a fall would leave nothing to catch something that dove at her if it lacked any propulsion mechanisms to catch it, namely Cuddles. She did not trust that helmet in combat. One wrong hit and the DAMON would be free and turn it's horns on everyone present.

She watched as the DEC encased the Thrudgelmir's arm, then, despite this being an opportunity to strike at it, waited politely as the pilot processed the crystal structure. She wished she could see his face for it though. Cuddles stayed back as well, waiting, electrical arcs crackling along the twin tendrils. A curious turn of events unfolded from there. The pilot was definitely going to be fun to play with. He was not an idiot, she'd give him that. He was adapting to the situation quickly and using the handicaps as means to be creative when he released that sword.

Cuddles was about to give some poor engineers a heart attack or two. It jumped to the side, toward the bridge, something like a little bunny hop with it's weight behind it. As it did so, it swung it's tail at the sword, allowing it to sink in to the appendage midway up it's length. It landed with a thud and the protest of the metal of the bridge, then spun around to face the edge. It swung it's tail again at the apex of it's, detatching the appendage to let it go flying over the side of the bridge and explode. If it caused damage to the Resolution... Ooops. The monstrous creature followed through, finishing up the spin a whole staggered 360 degrees to face the enemy once more.

The crystals exploded, giving him full use of his arm again. What would he do next? She couldn't help but smile at the drill augmented rocket punch he threw at her. It was unexpected, of course, but dodging it took little effort on her part. She waited until his aim had settled and the arm discharged before acting. The Caper's body twisted to the side as it ascended, presenting a smaller, moving target. The Caper pointed it's finger at the arm, firing several blasts at the back side of it, so long as it showed no signs of turning. Who knew if the thing had homing capabilities? It likely at least had a return mechanism at the very least.

It was then that cuddles attacked. The massive DAMON charged at the Thrudgelmir with every intent to impact into the mech and get it's flexible horn like tendrils on that machine to discharge the electrical current into it.

The miniaturized Gespenst's collision with the virescent cloud resulted in a satisfying impact, the dense gathering of orgone particles erupting in a tremendous detonation as they were struck by Ana's long-range kick. The tiny suit twisted in mid-air to face the way it had come, the little gee force that wasn't nullified by the machine pulling at its pilot as it rapidly shed what momentum remained after the strike. Unfortunately for her, the space that had previously held the Amaterasu contained nothing sans air and a few stray traces of green particulate - and not, as hoped, a heavily damaged enemy mecha. Instead the foe seemed to have somehow vanished from the cloud at the moment of impact and relocated elsewhere, unharmed.

Really? The woman scowled, already feeling a hint of frustration. She was already at a distinct size disadvantage. Whatever this thing was - and whatever that green...energy? was - if it was capable of space-time movement, potentially at-will, things just got a whole lot more complicated. She had wanted to avoid pulling out too many of the Gespenst's tricks with this many eyes around, but it might be unavoidable. Alternate plans rushed through the back of her mind in that brief moment of facing down the Amaterasu. If the fight went poorly...well, they were close enough to the Hecatoncheires that she could flee into the ship's confines where the larger unit couldn't follow. Directly threatening their ride might convince the other Terra Sentinel machines to break off the attack.

Okuni, however, was seemingly not content to let her sit and brainstorm a strategy as a whispering wind blew past the battle armor. And upon the breeze rode more of that green matter, swirling around Anastasiya to coalesce into jagged spears of energy on every side. "Tch." It looked like fighting fire with fire was going to be Ana's optimal plan after all if this was going to be the sort of thing being thrown at her. So much for subtlety.

The Gespenst lurched forward almost in tandem with the closing of the net, trajectory aimed directly at the Amaterasu. The orgonite spear that lay immediately between the two machines arrowed in at the tiny unit, seemingly poised to viciously run it through - only to pass through it as though it were naught but a ghostly image projected into the sky, the battle armor's silhouette flickering almost imperceptibly as System XN shifted it into subspace for the fraction of a second during which the two objects would have otherwise interacted.

The diminutive machine's neutron rifle snapped up, unleashing a flurry of still-dangerous beams at the knight machine as it charged forth.
