Excerpt from "Directory Public Policy Handbook: Irregular Races & Outsiders ver. OE 100."

Isola is known as "The Island", by virtue of the theory that it serves as a "connecting point" for various different worlds. Individuals from other dimensions have, through various incidents, found themselves transported to our shores, sometimes with little recollection of how they arrived - but all discovering quickly that return is effectively impossible.

The reasons for this are still being studied, but the effects are all the same - approximately 5% of the population in the Earth sphere is made up of a diverse array of nonstandard lifeforms, most of which are transplants from another world. (Source: Directory Comprehensive Census OE 100)

Many of these different races bear resemblance to those referred to in various myths, fairy tales, and folklore of different cultures across the world, leading to speculation that Outsiders have been arriving in Isola for much longer than was previously thought.

The purpose of this handbook is to serve as a layman's guide to various different races which appear in Isola, to ensure that the governments of the era can continue to meet and understand their differing needs.

TERMS:

Irregular is a blanket term for non-homo-sapien races.

Outsider refers to those specifically born outside of Isola, and who arrived to our world in some fashion or another.
