“Mhm... I’ve never personally “harvested” DEC before, but this seems familiar... if they were being controlled by an outside force, possibly..? I’m not positive.”

“Please, continue sir.”

"I don't know if they were being controlled, but they were most certainly being used, I'm sure of that...because when I got back to the base..."

"It was a nightmare. The first DAMONs I fought...I could've sworn..."

"They called out for me, asking for help-personnel from the lab, fused into the monsters themselves. I couldn't do anything to assist them except end their misery."

"People... Fused with DAMONs..? That's... Horrifying if accurate. Is it possible that your Sphere could have produced these voices?” Indigo sat aside her partner, glancing over Kenneth, concerned.

“The thing in the weapon over there?” Indigo looked back to Millicent, equally confused by what was being discussed.

“Have you... Had any strange dreams lately..?”

"No, I've been totally fine. That's called a Sphere? The base technicians didn't talk about it at all."

Kenneth scratched his head to further convey his confusion.

"...No."

A pause.

"I know it's the main power source of the Virgola, and that it's extremely valuable, but I know essentially nothing apart from that."

“Okay, that’s better than nothing at least.” Indigo sighed in relief, before unzipping and pulling off her jacket, her shirt, etcetera before she was topless before Kenneth and Milli (Unfazed, for that matter). She pointed to a gem embedded in her metal torso, tapping on it.

“This is my Sphere, the Standing Archer.”

"Uh-"

At this, Kenneth shifted uncomfortably, clearly attempting to somehow fall backwards through the seat.

"They have names? Also, are you, like, uh, an android or cyborg or something?"

“Yeah, our Spheres have name’s, or titles rather. They’re ancient, and powerful, and they tend to mess with your brain.”

“And of course I’m an Android, of course! What else would I be, an alien from another planet? You’re already traumatized enough, let’s not push it today.”

"Not pu-"

Kenneth shifted in the seat.

"Alright, ancient and powerful. Certainly didn't do that...I don't think it was the Sphere messing with my head, though-nothing like that has ever happened before."

“There are forces that... Will want your sphere. That I can tell you from experience. Humans, DAMONs, whatever. This thing is powerful, and I’m afraid it’s up to you to protect it now, Kenneth.”

"What kind of certainly-not-an-alien and her Lunarian sidekick would I be if we didn't?"

Millicent playfully punched Indigo in the shoulder as she squeezed past to offer the pilot a hand. "We should probably get out of here, actually. We can fit your PT in the Baker Street if you'd like. Prooooobably would be best to not let any authorities find us here."

"...That would nice, yes. Where would you bring me?"

Kenneth seems to be relieved that he's not going to be killed for this.

"Well. Elsewhere, I suppose..? Probably as far from people who actively want to kill you, I'd say. So the Moon, or maybe we can find someone with a big enough ship..."

A sigh from Kenneth.

"Anywhere really works. If you can make me disappear, that would be preferable-I doubt the Directory would take kindly to me running or coming back alive, so...the Colonies or Moon works."

He didn't ask if they were sure about this. He just needed to get away from this nightmare-to escape, however temporarily, from whoever would be coming after him.

"I guess I'll tell the rest of the story on the way there?"

Oh, and the questions-if they really have a Sphere as well, he will have a lot of questions to ask.

"Well. Then we should get going."

With minimal struggles, the three loaded the Virgola and it's Carvery into the Tausendfuessler, and soon enough they were up in the air. The three were stuck together for the time, and for the time being, from the girl's side, would mean working together.

Not long after the Tausendfuessler had left the scene of the tragedy and disappeared into the horizon, something happened at the ruins of the laboratory. At two points in close proximity to each other two large, thick smog pillars were born, seemingly puffing from nowhere. Dark purple in color, any normal human that witnessed the smog pillars would find themselves under attack by any negative emotions they might harbor, suddenly intensified by the presence of the pillars.

Not soon after they had appeared, the pillars faded out, revealing two identical flying machines. They were not the traditional look of Mobile Weapons in a humanoid form, nor were they modeled after planes or even tanks. Instead they were wasp-like in appearance, the silhouette resembling a wasp ready to strike. Once materialized, the two machines wasted no time. After a short time dedicated to observing their surroundings, the machines started buzzing around and sucking something from the air, the suction being vaguely purple in color.

As the wasp-like machines were sucking something from the air, another smog pillar appeared into existence. This time even thicker and ever so slightly larger than the two previous ones, though it wasn't present for any longer. As it dissipated it revealed a third machine, this one more familiar looking to humans and their idea of a Mobile Weapon. This one wasted no time in joining its apparent comrades in their sucking.

And for a short time, that was all they did. Yet after half an hour, the third machine noticed something. A faint trail. Though it wasn't visible to naked eye, it also wasn't something that the being inside the machine would ever miss once recognized. The trail led to the sky and away from the site. A decision made, the humanoid machine ordered its companions. The moment the order was issued, the two wasps jerked towards the third machine, as if invisible strings had been pulled. With another commanding gesture, the wasps dashed to the sky with the last machine following after them, easily keeping up with the machines in front of it.

They were still sucking away at the air, though the suction was much weaker than it had initially been. The trail they were following was leading them towards the Tausendfuessler.
And they were closing the distance between them. Fast.
