History:
Formed in the wake of Director Lao's unfortunate demise, the United Defense Directorate presented itself as a legitimate successor to the Directory's rule over the Earth sphere. With a prominent focus on safely eliminating the fallout of a rotting bureaucracy, a significant degree of Jericho's resources are expended on locating and salvaging the old order's infamous Black Projects - before relocating them for disposal. Out of necessity, many resources within the UDD are intrinsically tied to its military, a roughly unified morass of former Directory assets grouped into something resembling a standing army. The vast majority of the territories presently under Jericho's control rely on the defensive networking and military might it brings to bear just to guarantee survival; sandwiched between an expanding hellscape of DEC and the approach of an emboldened Terra Sentinel, the mere offer of protection was often enough to secure loyalty. However, just as much as the UDD is defined by the government it descends from, the gestating state also possesses much of its own initiatives, and has renewed scientific advancement through careful incorporation of more ethically conscionable Black Project data and miscellaneous EOT.
Some things, however, do not change. Jericho's stance, although not hardline, remains accepting of some extremist elements, and not every project the UDD's troops successfully recover end up in a landfill - or ever seem to make it into the books at all. Vice-Director Acheron has often led or planned seemingly suicidal operations into enemy-held territories, only to have his units come back seemingly empty-handed with a paradoxical lack of casualties.
A dreadful thing seems to be gestating in the heart of this new hope, fed by human hands. Self-destructive in a way an external poison cannot achieve.

Mass Production Machines:
Huckebein Mk-IIM: An inherited backbone. Despite the wear and tear of time, the UDD still makes significant use of the Mk-IIM; new components and fresh machines still find their way off the assembly lines, intended primarily to replace losses and maintain existing ones as a stopgap measure.
AGX-07 Zechariah: Forged from unearthly slivers of inhuman science, the Zechariah is an inscrutable weapons platform that nonetheless fits the role of an all-purpose foot soldier without complaint. Created from Zyflud Crystal, each machine comes equipped with a capable mixture of weaponry, mobility, and even limited regeneration; combined with the alien material's ability to self-propagate and heal, these new mobile weapons have significantly eased logistical stresses within Jericho forces and are gradually replacing outdated Directory reserves. Naturally, some pilots find the machine's unclear origins and strange nature offputting or needlessly temperamental, although all data indicates that the Zechariah is a capable mobile weapon capable of surpassing equal-generation units.
