Other Information: No supernatural abilities of note, although his knowledge of prana matches or exceeds that of most practitioners.

When not busy with business matters, he is a keen researcher of ancient history - funding archaeological digs or restorations and translations of ancient texts.

Biography:

Xander is the owner of the Alkahest corporation, and leads it from the front in sales of mobile units to the Directory and other private organizations. They've been in business since 0063 and originally mass-produced parts for other companies that constructed mechs, with a private "Network Operations Department" that provided consulting and unique machines to order for private clients. They were also subject to repeated harassment and investigation by the Directory and original iteration of Terra Sentinel for suspected trading of EOT and other restricted technology - an entirely correct accusation that occasionally lead to facilities being shut down and seizures or arrests being made - none of these accusations were directly laid at Xander's door, although his control over the company made it clear that the various claims of "Rogue individuals" were merely a smokescreen used for his own protection.

After an unusual discovery, Alkahest ceased production of parts for other groups and began manufacturing their own machines. Their so-called "Elementals" worked on completely different principles to the standard units of the time, having a supposed internal spirit that powered the machine and aided the pilot. This catapulted them from a minor (if disreputable) manufacturer to a powerhouse, giving Xander the funds he needed to begin constructing his magnum opus.

The Earth cradle (as it has become known) was officially described as an "Underground genetic preservation facility", an alternative to the various seed storing projects in arctic regions that could directly preserve biodiversity in event of an extinction event or alien invasion. Privately he also claimed that the resultant "ark" would allow for preservation of senior Directory officials, ensuring they looked the other way when a simple vault instead became a veritable underground fortress. One part corporate HQ, one part military stronghold, the cradle finally allowed Xander to properly embrace his role as a captain of industry.

When Terra Sentinel was forcefully disbanded and framed, he allowed fleeing members and what remained of the upper leadership sanctuary in the cradle, seeking to turn their loss to his advantage. Since then he's cultivated a close relationship with them, acting as a financial backer in exchange for access to their technology and occasionally "Borrowing" pilots for his own operations and experiments.

Mobile Weapon:

The Canis Altarf is Xander's personal mobile weapon, currently stored in the Earth cradle but kept constantly armed in case of an unexpected attack or attempt on his life.

Specifications:

Armour material: Machine Cells
Weapons: Roche Sabre, Gunnery Carver
Height 20.4 meters
Weight 78.1 tons

Affiliation: Currently Terra Sentinel.

Combat Style: Slow and purposeful. Every attack is considered before the trigger is pulled, and the line of retreat is secured before any movement to a new location. Assuming he's got backup, of course - which is normally the case. Alone his first priority is a safe retreat - but a cornered rat is unpredictable.

History:

Alkahest was founded in 0063, beginning as a simple production company that produced parts for Directory suits. This proved profitable enough for a secondary enterprise in custom machines at the insistence of the CEO, with the new "Network operations division" providing consultations to other companies in between single-series productions to order for rich buyers. They were mired in controversy from their conception, with frequent accusations of EOT trading and smuggling - all arrests were confined to managers or branches that were considered to be rogue in the eyes of the company, and this did little to hobble their overall growth.

After several decades of production for other companies, Alkahest abruptly left the outsourcing business with the production of their first official Masouki, or elemental machine. The Rujanol, as it was called, was the first successful attempt at mass production of the elemental machines that had been appearing in the Over Era. While weak it had several unique properties that launched a period of explosive growth, especially once the original machine was replaced by the Bafom and Browel units - both of which were designed for mainline combat, as opposed to being a proof-of-concept that worked best in a support or non-combat role.

The Underground Genetic Preservation Facility became their new HQ after its creation, with a majority of the corporations manufacturing and management departments moved into the cradle alongside the originally planned genetic equipment and research facilities promised to the directory. More recently there have also been rumours of Terra Sentinel forces hiding inside the cradle, but Alkahest's PR department assures anyone concerned that these rumors are unsubstantiated and can be safely ignored.

Mass Production Machines:

Rujanol

Covered here

Browel

Browels are the first combat-capable Masouki mass produced, and outstrip the Rujanol in almost every aspect. The prana engine allows the mech to run functionally indefinitely with a capable pilot, although ammo resupplies are still needed after prolonged combat. All weapon systems are designed to function with prana infusion but can be used without, allowing even the weakest practicioner to get good use out of the mech.

Armaments: Plasma sword, Linear Railgun * 2, Missile launcher * 4.

Bafom

While the Rujanol and Browel were built as AMs first and Elemental machines second, the Bafom takes the term to heart and is built around prana-based weapons. It's variety of elemental attacks allow it to adapt to most situations, and hold its own against stronger elemental machines by striking them with their weakness. It has a much higher prana drain though, and should only be used by elites or those who have proven themselves capable of prana manipulation on a larger scale.

Armaments: Lightning pressure, Wave banisher, Tornado, Grand napalm

Gildora

The Gildora is a bleeding-edge Masouki, fresh off the production line in limited numbers. It's a successor unit to the Browel, utilizing mostly standard weaponry with a prana converter for power. It's built for mid-range engagements, leaving artillery support to the Browel's railguns and being the first mass production Masouki to wield beam weaponry.

Armament: Gatling gun, Beam cannon, Plasma sword, Grand missile

Bergelmir

The Bergelmir is utilized exclusively by Alkahest's Network Operations Division, but worth noting here due to their relation to the corporation even if the machines are not for sale. They are very rarely seen in action, mostly acting as guards for installations or occasionally as bodyguard units. The standard Machine Rifle and "Six plagues" drone system are the only officially noted weapons, but each individual unit does contain a small quantity of machine cells for regenerative purposes. Very few know of this part of the machine, and as of yet they've never been utilized in active combat.

Armaments: Machine Rifle, "Six Plagues", Machine cells
